Telangana government to take over ₹5,000 crore debt of GHMC

The Telangana government will assume Rs 5,000 crore in liabilities from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), significantly easing the debt burden on the civic body. This move aims to strengthen GHMC financially, with the state expected to clear these debts by year-end. The liabilities were primarily incurred for infrastructure projects like flyovers and stormwater drains.
