Transitioning from television to films hasn’t been easy for many actors. For Vikram Singh Chauhan, who forayed into television with Qubool Hai, finding his footing in movies has been a long journey. Before he was signed on as the male lead in Pooja Meri Jaan, led by Huma Qureshi and Mrunal Thakur, the actor sat at home for five years.
“Those five years were not easy. When you’ve been part of popular TV shows, there is an expectation that work will continue coming your way. There were periods when I wondered if I should have taken up a project to remain visible. But I’d rather have a difficult journey than a meaningless one,” said the actor.
His patience was rewarded with Pooja Meri Jaan. Chauhan plays Thakur’s romantic interest in the courtroom drama that examines obsession. Describing Qureshi and Thakur as “generous co-stars”, Chauhan said, “Huma has an instinctive quality. There is fearlessness in the way she approaches a part. Mrunal is a combination of instinct and preparation. She can be spontaneous, but you can sense the thought that has gone into creating the character.”
