Union minister Shobha Karandlaje has alleged that some state governments, including Karnataka, have misused funds collected for labour welfare. She announced the central government’s plan to integrate this labour cess into the formal social security system. This will ensure the money directly provides pensions and ESIC healthcare benefits to construction labourers.
