Amul and Mother Dairy has announced an increase of Rs 2 per litre in the prices of all its liquid milk variants, effective from May 14, 2026.
According to the ANI, Mother Dairy said the revision has been made due to a steady rise in procurement costs paid to farmers over the past year.
In an official statement, Mother Dairy said milk procurement prices have increased by around 6 per cent, making the price revision necessary.
The dairy major said the hike is only a partial pass-through of rising costs and is intended to maintain a balance between farmer welfare and consumer affordability.
A company spokesperson said a large share of milk sales revenue—around 75 to 80 per cent—is passed on to farmers to support their livelihoods.
The last revision in milk prices by Mother Dairy was carried out in April 2025.

Amul also raises prices, fueling inflation concerns
Meanwhile, the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets products under the Amul brand, also announced a Rs 2 per litre increase across major milk variants effective from May 14, reported the PTI.
GCMMF cited rising production costs, including higher prices of cattle feed, packaging materials and fuel.
The cooperative also said it had increased procurement prices paid to farmers, ensuring better returns for milk producers.
Impact on household budgets
The simultaneous price hikes by major dairy players are expected to add pressure on household budgets and contribute to food inflation.
Milk prices have already seen multiple revisions over the past year due to rising input costs.
Industry experts note that similar revisions by other dairy companies may follow in the coming days, the news agency reported.
