It is needless to say that Dhurandhar 2 has scripted history at the box office. The film was banned in the Middle East and several other regions due to its anti-Pakistan narrative. It has now released on Netflix only for international audiences, and it has stirred a firestorm in Pakistan. Amid criticism calling the film propaganda, a Pakistani content creator claimed the streaming platform’s servers crashed within minutes of release due to overwhelming viewership.
Netflix crashes in Pakistan after Dhurandhar 2 release
The film has already debuted in Pakistan, where it reportedly caused Netflix servers to crash within minutes of release due to overwhelming viewership, despite several Pakistanis criticising it as propaganda.
Pakistani content creator Maviya Umer Farooqui, who runs the Instagram page @kaam_wali_baat, shared a video showing Netflix allegedly crashing soon after Dhurandhar 2 premiered in Pakistan. He was heard saying, “Dhurandhar released in Pakistan today itself, and the server crashed almost immediately. Pakistanis had been eagerly waiting for Netflix to drop the film at midnight so everyone could click and watch it together. That’s the level of craze Dhurandhar has generated here. Whether the film shows the truth or not is a different matter, but people in Pakistan are curious to see how the movie has been made. Everyone already has an idea about Ranveer Singh’s character. Whether such incidents actually happened in Lyari or not is a separate debate.”
To note, after its release on March 19, the pirated version of Ranveer Singh’s film was available in Pakistan. The Dhurandhar franchise, directed by Aditya Dhar and fronted by Ranveer Singh, has built a strong fan following due to its scale, action sequences, and storytelling. Reports suggest that both films have earned more than Rs 3000 crore globally.
