Actress Priyanka Chopra’s hard work and dedication catapulted her into the stardom she enjoys today. However, she had her share of ups and downs while carving a niche for herself. In a new interview with Vogue Arabia, Priyanka opened up about her early days: “I was a dreadful dancer when I first started. I was not able to act and nail the choreography at the same time, plus coordinate with my co-star. It was just too many things for my 19- or 20-year-old brain.”

She revealed how Raju Khan got agitated with her and even threw a mic. She recalled, “I was filming with Raju Khan (son of legendary choreographer Saroj Khan) in South Africa and missing my marks. He got so upset with me that he threw the mic down, saying, ‘You might come from a pageant, but learn how to dance before you become an actress.’ He just walked away, and I was so embarrassed.” The two share a cordial bond now.

Priyanka further told the publication that, in order to become a better dancer and overcome the challenge, she began to study dance and practised six hours a day with Katrina Kaif. The song in question was the romantic track “Aayega Maza Ab Barsaat Ka,” alongside the lead actor Akshay Kumar, from Andaaz.

Priyanka Chopra’s upcoming movies

She will make her Indian cinema comeback with Varanasi. Directed by S.S. Rajamouli, the film also stars Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran. Rajamouli reportedly conceived the film as a globetrotting adventure rooted in Indian cultural themes, drawing inspiration from the structure and emotional tone of classic adventure cinema. Filming took place extensively in Hyderabad, Odisha, and Kenya. With a budget of Rs. 1,000–1,300 crore, it is set to become one of the most expensive Indian films ever made. Varanasi is scheduled to be theatrically released in April 2027.
